At Winscombe Furniture, we’ve spent decades crafting high-quality furniture for churches and places of reflection. Building on this heritage, we now design and manufacture bespoke catafalques for crematoria and chapels—each made to suit its setting with quiet dignity.

Our catafalques are created to complement their surroundings—not dominate them. We work closely with architects, designers, and service teams to ensure every detail aligns with the overall space. From traditional chapels to contemporary crematoria, we shape each piece to feel naturally integrated, both in style and scale.
Built with Thoughtful Functionality
Each catafalque is individually made to order, tailored in size and finish. For ease of use during services, options include:
• Rollers for gentle, straight-line removal of the coffin
• Ball bearings to allow for smoother movement in multiple directions
•. Choice of timber finishes – beech, oak, ash, and walnut
• Flush or a setback plinth for that “floating look”
All are constructed to support up to a minimum weight capacity of 300kg (47.2 stones), offering both strength and ease of handling where it matters most.
Materials and Finish Options
We offer a selection of high-quality veneered finishes for the side panels:
• Beech
• Ash
• Oak
Panels can be kept plain for simplicity, or made with a decorative design for a more detailed aesthetic. All finishes can be stained to match surrounding furniture, ensuring harmony within the space.
Co-ordinated Timber Furniture
To accompany our catafalques, we also craft a range of bespoke timber furniture for crematoria and chapels, including:
• Lecterns made to complement your setting and usage
• Side tables and flower stands, matched in material and tone
Each item is designed and finished by hand, ensuring a unified appearance across your space. Price on application.
Everything we make is produced to order, and we’re always happy to work with clients on designs that respect both function and atmosphere.
Delivery and Installation
We take great care in ensuring that each catafalque is delivered and installed with the attention it deserves. Transportation and on-site fixing are included as part of our service, and due to the nature of these installations, time and care are essential.
To provide an accurate quotation, we kindly ask that you supply the full installation address when making an enquiry. This allows us to plan appropriately and ensure everything is placed precisely and respectfully on site.

Delivery & Returns
Delivery
We like to be transparent and honest about our delivery costs. We could have offered FREE delivery and hidden the cost by hiking our prices, So instead we just ask for a contribution towards our deliveries based on your order value:
Within Mainland UK (below prices are ex VAT)
£50.00 for Orders less than £199
£55.00 for Orders between £200 and £399
£60.00 for Orders between £400 and £599
£65.00 for Orders between £600 and £999
£95.00 for Orders over £1000.00
For delivery to the Scottish Lowlands & Highlands, Grampians, Shetlands, offshore islands, Northern Ireland, or countries outside the UK, please contact us, as an additional delivery cost will apply. However, this will be agreed at the time of ordering.
Return Of Goods
You have 5 working days after receiving your order in full to notify us in a written format that you wish to send the goods back to us for a full refund. Goods can be returned if they are unused, unassembled, in their original packaging and in a resalable condition and If you are unable to arrange a return courier yourself, we can arrange this, but as a cost to you. Please be aware that the cost will be deducted from your final refund.
This does not apply to Made to Order products which may NOT be returned
Items which require self assembly may not be returned if unassembled and in their original packaging.
We reserve the right to charge a minimum handling fee of 35% of the value of the goods for items returned when orders are placed in error or just simply just not wanted. Your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations and Sales Of Goods Act are unaffected by this.

Price Match
Winscombe Furniture spend a lot of time constantly reviewing prices to make sure we are always offering the best prices. In the event that a Customer finds the same item on any other current Business to Business website, we will match that price subject to the following conditions:
- The price match promise must be claimed before placing your order
- We do not provide refunds for orders which have already been placed or delivered
- We will need the quote showing the quoted price from our competitor
- The item price must be displayed at the time of the check
- The item price must be available to any business customer
- The item price must be for the same quantity, model and spec
- The item price must include equivalent delivery and administration costs where applicable
- The item price must be from a valid UK VAT Registered business
- The item price can not be from bankrupt, seconds, refurbished, liquidation, administration or cancelled orders

Free Sample Service “Try Before You Buy”
Winscombe Furniture – doesn’t expect you to buy a large quantity of chairs online without trying them beforehand. Sample chairs, fabrics, frames and materials for larger items can be delivered direct to your door before you make that purchase.
