Design

The table is adjustable from 710-1000mm high so users can work from their preferred height. This allows those shorter or taller than average to remain comfortable in their seat without hunching over, straining their neck or adopting awkward seating positions, and can be perfectly adjusted to the height of various wheelchairs. A height adjustable table is especially useful in spaces shared by people of varying ages, or where various chair sizes are in use.

A main benefit is the ability to work from a standing position. Switching from being seated to standing during long periods of work helps combat the negative effects of a sedentary lifestyle, such as back pain, poor posture, obesity and even some cardiovascular diseases. Psychologically, users of a height adjustable table will feel happier and more productive as a result, proving it an undeniably worthwhile investment from all perspectives. Please note that when used standing, the available heights are best suited to adults or older teenagers.

This table is adjusted at the legs with use of an Allen key. For those who would be physically or mentally unable to adjust the table by themselves, this is a far more suitable mechanism than hand crank or motorised alternatives. With the mechanism out of reach, it cannot be overused or tampered with in a way that causes harm to the user or the table itself, whether by compromised posture, distraction from work, or breakage of the mechanism.

Please note that all our height adjustable tables fully comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). You can adjust the worktop proportionally to your chair or stool height based on whatever feels the most comfortable, but it is recommended to use BS EN 1729:2016 guidelines for optimal posture, comfort and lumbar support when seated. The increments provided have been chosen in relation to these guidelines and will therefore be best accompanied by BS EN 1729:2016 compliant seating with a minimum seat height of 430mm.

These tables are designed to accommodate partnered activities or small work groups, and optimise space in a classroom through a coherent, easy to navigate layout. With a unique oval tube frame, it is possible to achieve a stylish, modern look in a classroom that is equally suited to modern demands. An oval tube frame is not only more comfortable to students with its lack of protruding corners but will fit tightly together with adjacent elite tables for a tidy, seamless look when tables are arranged for groupwork. The frame is also finished with Duraform light speckled grey paint – famous for its resistance to chips and scratches – which will help keep your table looking good as new!

Construction

Each of these tables is constructed using MDF with a high-pressure laminate finish. This provides an inexpensive yet durable and smooth surface which makes the table both stylish and functional in a learning environment. This is accompanied by high impact Duraform PU edges, which add to the aesthetic whilst simultaneously providing protection without needing to be re-treated over time. Duraform is famous for its ability to resist scratching and chipping, coming in handy when tables are frequently handled, pushed together, or impacted when adjustment is taking place. Duraform is also applied as a spray that pupils will not be able to peel off.

Also durable is the 60mm x 30mm oval tube frame – a thick steel construction that keeps the table extra sturdy when in use. It has been fully welded to the tabletop to remain intact throughout years of daily use, re-arrangement, or adjustment, and is considered the most reliable frame style on the market. To reinforce this is the incorporated Allen key mechanism; the safest and most durable type of height adjustment that securely locks into the chosen increment and resists lowering under heavy weight. Height adjustments have 7 key positions – 710, 760, 800, 850, 900, 950, 1000mm high. Each table is adjusted with the use of an Allen Key.
